THE SUMMER NEEDS LEN BACK

The UK underground is more alive than ever, but there’s still someone missing. That person is Len. It’s been more than four months since we last heard from the London rapper, with his single How Greedy. Now that the days are getting longer and the sun is starting to show itself again, his absence is felt more than ever.

The way Len differs from the majority of the current sound, is the exact reason the scene needs him back. With more melodic and danceable sounds instead of the heavy distortions, Len distinguishes himself from the rest. There’s a natural bounce in his music that cuts through the weight of the current landscape. And as much as we love the dark underground sound, the summer needs something sexy.

Last summer, the artist from Stockwell dropped MAKE BRITAIN S3XY AGAIN. Across three tracks, Len fully leaned into that pocket. Upbeat, melodic production paired with his signature vocal approach. Smooth, but never too clean. There’s always a certain rawness in his delivery, like the edges are left intentionally untouched. It’s that balance that makes his music feel effortless, without ever lacking character.

But that wasn’t the only thing Len did last summer. The rapper was far from passive and dropped multiple times. Where You Been being the most acclaimed release. The track, produced by BNYX, stood out. The single carries an energy that feels almost instinctive, the kind of record that doesn’t just play, but makes you move.

With countless artists releasing in 2026, the UK underground isn’t lacking output. But it is starting to lean in one direction. More intensity, more distortion, more of the same textures. What it lacks is contrast. A shift in feeling.

Len’s sound isn’t just an alternative, it’s a necessary one. A reminder that the underground doesn’t only have to be dark and aggressive to hit. Sometimes it just needs to breathe. To bounce. To feel alive in a different way.
